Research Project
"FHWA CPTP Task 56-C - Freeze-Thaw Durability of Concrete With Marginal Entrained Air Content"
Date Started: 1999
Date Estimated Completion: 2003
Budget: $45,000
Sponsor: Federal Highway Administration, Washington, DC
Performing Organization: TFHRC
Description: Objectives are to: 1) To investigate freeze-thaw durability of concrete with marginal air contents, and; 2) To investigate improvements in damage assessment of freeze-thaw test specimens. Concretes mixtures with marginal air contents will be tested using standard ASTM C666 procedures as well as the modified terry-cloth procedure suggested in the SHRP study. The quality factor will be evaluated its ability to predict the durability of the concrete at a fewer number of cycles. Additional series of concrete mixtures will be tested as needed.
