Research Project
Material and Construction Optimization for Prevention of Premature Pavement Distress in PCC Pavements, Phase III
Date Started: August 1, 2006
Date Estimated Completion: December 31, 2007
Budget:
Sponsor: Material and Construction Optimization Pooled Fund
Performing Organization: Iowa State University
Description: Phase III will refine and finalize lab and field tests based on the data obtained from the shadow construction projects conducted in Phase II. Two additional field construction projects will be evaluated to further refine and check the test data in two very different state projects, New York and South Dakota. The deliverable of this phase will be a guide for both agency and contractor personnel. This will outline a suite of tests that will characterize material properties and concrete properties in order to assure long term durability through real time testing. Details from individual tests will be provided, including why the tests should be run, when they should be used, what information they supply, and necessary particulars of the test itself.
